In this section, we show how to get started quickly with WebMaker, by taking a small FrameMaker document and converting it to a web document. The basic steps we follow in this chapter are:

1. Write the FrameMaker file to MIF format.

2. Start WebMaker.

3. Include the appropriate libraries in the WML file.

4. Add the FrameMaker tags to the WML file.

5. Map the FrameMaker paragraph tags to WML rules.

6. Map the FrameMaker character tags to HTML character highlights.

7. Generate the web document.

8. Browse the web document.

9. Save the WML file.

In this chapter, we convert a simple FrameMaker document, simple.doc. This document contains four FrameMaker paragraph tags and two character tags. It is one page long. Figure 2.1 shows the document.
